The importance of obeying the Holy Spirit

Think about what went through the minds of Joseph, his parents and Mary’s parents. They knew what the Scriptures said about a woman found with child out of wedlock. For sure they must of asked Mary, “who is the father?” More than likely they asked Mary more than one time this question knowing the grave result that could have happen once others knew or the pregnancy started to show. She would have been stoned to death.  Mary knew the Scriptures, God knew her faith. She knew the possibly that she would be stoned to death, but she shares her faith in Luke 1:46-55. When we read it we see clearly why God chose Mary the be the virgin who would bear His Son, fulfilling His prophecy in Isaiah 7:14.  If the angel did not make it clear to Joseph he would have divorce Mary privately, but God also knew Joseph heart that he to would yield to the leading of the Lord.  We can see very clearly the importance of yielding to God’s Holy Spirits leading here. Now let’s bring it to light in our own lives. Is the Holy Spirit activity working in this time in history? Yes is the answer. Can He guide His children today, of course yes He can and wants to lead us. Do we allow Him to lead us, that is the question. 1Thes. 5:16-17 The Holy Spirit wants us to be led moment by moment in these end days. He wants to use our lives, our eyes as He leads us to those who need to hear the Gospel, our mouths to share the Gospel so their ears will hear that they may have a chance to receive Jesus the Savior of the world and giver of eternal life. Mary and Joseph obeyed, will we continue that obedience?  Lord we ask for Your boldness to share the Gospel, help us to always remember John 14:6  Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus is the only way to God. Without Jesus humans will be separated from God for eternity, this is Hell.  Everyday we walk by people who do not know Jesus as their Lord, King and Savior. Pray that your ears are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and you are obedient and stop what you are doing the share the Gospel with them.  This life soon will pass, only what’s done for Jesus will last, forever.

  1. You are very right. But how do you know what the Holy Spirit wants? You cited scriptures to say what the HS wants and you are correct. Jesus told his apostles in John 14:17 “I will send the comforter, the Spirit of Truth.” And what is the Spirit of Truth? John 17:17 says, “God’s Word is truth.” And that is how we know what the Holy Spirit wants us to do.

Katheryn what I have found is 1. If we learn how to share the Gospel. (Go here if you want to see what I use. Programs – Evangelism Explosion | EE International 2. Set a time weekly to go to share what we know and are found faithful in sharing the Gospel. The Holy Spirit will lead us.

When He knows we will obey He will speak. My spiritual ear of hearing His small still voice is good since being faithful to obey and I’m no one special.

    God’s Revelation to Elijah

11Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
