Jesus said in many places, and in these verses, that there is life after death. Our physical bodies are temporary, they hardly ever last more then a 100 years. All forms of eternal life is for eternity. Jesus points out in these verses, that the rich man had much in this life but, he lived his life separate from God. The money did not separate him, because the Bible tells us it is the love of money that’s bad, not money itself. If God has allowed you to be rich He gave it to you to use it for His Glory.
The rich man did not seek to walk with God in this life therefore when he died he continued walking without God. The poor man was with Abraham. He did seek to walk with God here on this earth, He believe in Jesus and therefore after his body died, Jesus knew him.
It was brought to my attention once that if a person is not comfortable living with Jesus here, they will not be happy living with Jesus for eternity. Does this make sense to you?
If so understand that Jesus said He is the Way to the Father, He said in Chapter 14
“Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also.4 You know where I am going, and you know the way.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going. How can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
If this make sense to you. Know that Jesus died to take all sin. All sin from the creation of the world to the end of the world. There is no sin too big or to small that He is not willing to take.
If we pray and ask Jesus to remove our sin He will. When He does Jesus Commands us to make Him Lord of our life. This means we change our old life, and we begin to walk with Him. We then know Jesus is Commanding our lives. We dedicate ourselves and discipline ourselves to do the things we know will please God.
1. We communicate with God through daily prayer.
2. We seek Him by reading His living Word, the Bible daily.
3. We find other Christians to fellowship and walk in this world with.
4. We share this gift of eternity with as many people as we can.
It’s up to you. God will not force you to except His Son Jesus.
