THE BIBLE WILL GIVE YOU LIGHT & LIFE

My wife Susie and I began reading through the Bible together last October, and it has been such a blessing in our home. Each day we read five chapters side by side, following a simple pattern that has helped us grow together in the Bible.

1. Old Testament — We started in Genesis and are now in Ruth. Walking through God’s story from the beginning has strengthened our understanding of His faithfulness even when His people would go astray. I believe God had to keep His written Word so we could study it and see His many fulfilled prophecies

2. Psalms — We read the Psalms to take in the praises, prayers, and struggles of David and others. We’ve gone through them more than once, and they never grow old.

3. Proverbs — With 31 chapters, Proverbs fits perfectly into a daily rhythm. The wisdom of Solomon and the other writers has been a steady guide for our lives.

4. The Gospels — We love reading the Words of Jesus and watching how the disciples lived and responded. We’ve read the Gospels multiple times, and each time something new stands out.

5. Acts through Revelation — We began in Acts and are working through the rest of the New Testament. Seeing the early church grow and how the apostles and Christians live out their faith has encouraged us deeply.

Reading Scripture together—and pausing to talk about what we’re learning—has united us in the Word of God and strengthened our walk with Christ.

I’ve encouraged others to try this because it truly brings couples together spiritually and helps them grow side by side.

Just a thought and a suggestion from our journey.
