A unveiling of God’s character, covenant, and redemptive plan
1. Creation & Early Humanity (Genesis 1–11)
God the Father, Jesu the Son and Holy Spirit, three in one. The Creator. God reveals Himself first as Creator, Sovereign, and Life-Giver. God speaks creation into existence. Humanity made in His image. God is relational (walking with Adam and Eve). Early judgments (Flood, Babel) reveals the holiness and justice of God.
2. Patriarchal Revelation (Genesis 12–50)
God of Covenant. God reveals Himself personally to individuals — Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph. God calls Abraham. Promises land, descendants, blessing. God reveals His faithfulness through generations. The name El Shaddai (God Almighty) appears.
3. Mosaic Revelation (Exodus – Deuteronomy)
God the Deliverer. This is one of the most dramatic moments in Scripture. The burning bush: God reveals His name YHWH (“I AM”) Ten plagues in Egypt: God’s power over nations and idols. Exodus: God as Redeemer. Sinai: God gives the Law, revealing holiness and moral order. Tabernacle: God dwells among His people
4. The Era of Judges & Kings (Joshua – 2 Chronicles).
God the King. God reveals His authority and desire for righteous leadership. Joshua: God as Commander of the Lord’s Army. Judges: God as rescuer despite Israel’s cycles of rebellion. Samuel: God speaks through prophets. David: God reveals His heart — “a man after My own heart”. Davidic Covenant: promise of an eternal King “Jesus”
5. Prophetic Revelation (Isaiah – Malachi)
God the Holy One & Coming Savior. The prophets expand God’s revelation dramatically. God reveals His holiness (Isaiah 6). God calls for justice, mercy, righteousness. God warns of judgment but promises. Restoration. Messianic prophecies: suffering servant, eternal king, new covenant. God reveals His heart for the nations
6. The Incarnation (Matthew – John)
God Revealed in Jesus Christ. This is the climax of Biblical revelation. “The Word became flesh” — God becomes human. Jesus reveals the Father perfectly. Miracles show divine authority. Teachings reveal God’s kingdom. Cross reveals God’s love and justice. Resurrection reveals God’s victory over death.
7. The Church Age (Acts – Revelation)
God the Indwelling Holy Spirit. After Jesus ascends, God reveals Himself through the Holy Spirit. Pentecost: Spirit empowers believers. Apostles teach and write Scripture. God reveals the mystery of the Gospel — Jew and Gentile united. The Spirit guides, convicts, comforts, and sanctifies. The Church becomes God’s witness to the world.
8. Final Revelation (Revelation)
Jesus the Returning King. The Bible ends with God’s ultimate revelation. Jesus returns as King of kings. Evil is judged. New heaven and new earth. God dwells with those who were forgiven by receiving Jesus allowing them to become children of God. We will be His people forever. Full restoration of creation after the rebellion of Satan. This is optimal, even better than any time in all eternity. Thank You, Jesus.
